New fountain pens & inks
Jan. 24th, 2026 08:53 pmI went on a small stationery spree while I was in Taiwan this winter. However it took me a few weeks to get pens and inks out of boxes and filled, so photos in bad indoor lighting it is!

The white pen is from JC Studio. I had never heard of this brand before, but Nenn-Yih Stationery had a bunch of test pens with inks loaded, so I ended up getting both the pen and the ink (the Fujiyama Irodori ink below). The body is metal. The included converter is a screw piston; it did not come with any cartridges.
The blue pen is from IWI (International Writing Instrument), an OEM company that has started making their own branded pens. This is from their Safari line, which features various animals; I have a peacock. (I wanted one of the Taiwan endemic animal pens but unfortunately the one I liked was sold out at the Taiwan Design Research Institute, and I didn’t have time to go to proper fountain pen stores.) The body is metal. The included converter has a pull piston, although the converter is quite small. The included cartridge is also quite small, so idk how the pen would work with regular cartridges.

Other than the Fujiyama Irodori ink I picked up, I grabbed two other inks. I had some decision paralysis with the IWI ink selection at TRDI; they had a lot of really pretty blues, but I went for an orange as I do not have any orange inks yet. I thought the Lennon Tool Bar ink was darker in the store — I’ll have to blame Eslite’s setup for that.
Excuse the terrible handwriting, I have no idea how to use a fude nib yet! Written on Midori paper.
