Wow, it does not seem like nearly the end of the year at all.

Your main fandom of the year?

Louis Tomlinson! Both a tour and an album launch. I’ve moved past touring fandom being a part-time job for me; a day’s delay seems to be my ideal level of fandom engagement.

Some of my favourite moments of the year:

my show ofc!
the Doncaster conga line and mosh pit (spot opening act Only the Poets)
the “Kill My Mind” lights fan project — fans coordinated with the venue to organize this in Santiago and it spread to South American shows, and later Harry’s South American tour as well
indie pop “Night Changes”
the “Copy” rainbow lights fan project at Away From Home — this was organized in a short period solely over social media, making it all the more impressive

Your favourite film you watched this year?

Turning Red.

Your favourite book read this year?

Didn’t really like any of the books I read this year; I’m saving my to-reads for my next trip so we’ll see if next year is better!

Fics I liked:

Take Note of These Keys by Dutten (Skam) — heed the warnings! This was my hurt/comfort fic of the year, and I’ve reread it multiple times.
Push to Talk by alexjosten (All For The Game) — a Firewatch AU; it’s always fun seeing authors dovetail two disparate canons.

Your favourite album or song to listen to this year?

Some of the songs I had on repeat this year:

NELN / Zeikin Nante Wakanai (CW: cartoonish violence, blood) — such a fun and catchy song!
Serph feat. Zun / Piplup Step — thanks to Pokemon’s marketing budget for those arpeggios.
HUR / Poisonous (CW: flashing) — my idol group obsession of the year.
Louis Tomlinson / Lucky Again — wins the title of the song I listened to the most this year that wasn’t because I was making a fanvid.
Homecomings / Shadow Boxer — since it came out, this song pops into my head at random times. Adore the sadness-yet-hope of it all.

Your favourite TV show of the year?

Sailor Venus, the Weekly Idol-style Atom Boyz spin-off. Every episode so far has made me cry actual tears of laughter.

Your best new fandom discovery of the year?

I did watch some shows with fandoms this year, but I made a deliberate choice to stay away from the fandoms. And that was a good choice because well one of them was Heartstopper D:

Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year?

Young Royals S2 abandoned most of the nuance that S1 had. I still have a ton of fic ideas for it, but I’m not motivated to rewatch at all. And I sort of need to rewatch to do fic research :/

Your favourite character of the year?

IDK.

Your biggest squee moment of the year?

As mentioned, the Louis Tomlinson concert. It was definitely one of my top five live shows of all time; the energy of the crowd was amazing.

The most missed of your old fandoms?

I’ve sort of finally come to terms with liking a person but not liking their current artistic output or their fans. It took me five years and three tours that I didn’t see, but I think I’m finally a casual again.
