Because Chinese dramas are beh tahan. It needs some work.

Take a shot:
  • At the beginning if it's dubbed voiced over
    • Take an extra shot if two or more characters have the exact same voice
  • Per flashback scene
  • Every time someone talks to a wall or window
  • Every time someone talks in poetry
    • Take an extra shot if it goes on for more than a minute
  • Every single time a woman cries
    • Take an extra shot if she runs away while crying
      • Take an extra shot if someone yells at her to come back
  • Every time hair is cut
  • Per arranged marraige
    • Take an extra shot per broken engagement
  • Per fight scene, per episode
    • Take an extra shot if they are using chi
  • For every scene with one or more horses
  • Whenever a major character is hit by an arrow
    • Take an extra shot if the scene was in slow motion
  • Whenever someone is backstabbed
  • Whenever someone is executed
ETA - more from [livejournal.com profile] animagus:
  • Every time the music builds up and you're expecting something else to happen, only to abruptly land in the beginning of a totally different scene
  • Every time some one is stunned/paralyzed with one strategic touch
  • Every time some one is revived from being stunned/paralyzed with more strategic touching

I'D LIKE TO ADD SOME:

Every time the music builds up and you're expecting something else to happen, only to abruptly land in the beginning of a totally different scene
--this ticks me off SO MUCH with the Canto shows arrrrrgh

Every time the lips don't match the speech
--aka take a shot every 2 seconds

Every time some one is stunned/paralyzed with one strategic touch

Every time some one is revived from being stunned/paralzyed with more strategic touching

Every time the lips don't match the speech - lol that's covered by the dubbing one

I mean when it's NOT dubbed. They shoot the scenes so fast that basically every line is recorded later and/or the dialogue changes on the fly, and they make no effect to match the lips.

Er, I thought dubbing only applied to when it's a different language.

Ok I guess I'm misusing the word. Voiceover?

The one I was watching today *did* match the dialogue, so it's probably because a lot of Hong Kong and Taiwan actors can't speak proper mandarin luls.
