The weirdest thing about writing is that I do so much location research, I grow so attached to places that I’m half-convinced I’ve actually been to them. This happened with a certain high school in Kanagawa (the one Rikkaidai Fuzokuchuu is based on) and it happened with Walthamslow. When you wander around a place in Street View for a few hours, have you not visited it? Perhaps I should do these places the courtesy of actually visiting them—but there’s not much in either. I could at least go, like my Yanagi of Rikkai, fruitlessly to Jinbouchou.

Actually: I just realized why I was even thinking down this track—I’d been thinking of the monorails and attractions of Yokohama, because I was rereading [livejournal.com profile] ontogenesis’s desynchronization which visits Yokohama’s aquarium, but I’d completely forgotten that I’d ever written a fic that featured Yokohama. I can’t even remember which fic it is now. This is the second time this week I’ve remembered a fic I’ve written and forgotten about for years. How do people keep track of what they’ve done?!

So I guess that’s going on my next trip close to Tokyo: Yokohama and Jinbouchou.
