  • hide references abound with an occasional peek at 2023.

  • Pop punk that’s semi-ironic in concept but not execution.
• Layla / Wonderland (CW: flashing, motion sickness)
  • Basement pop rock.
• Age Factory / Alice (feat. Ushimaru Arisa) (CW: motion sickness)
  • Scratchy, imperfect 2000s indie rock — basement aesthetic included.
• Louis Tomlinson / High In California (CW: weed mention)
  • You know sometimes you don’t get a song until a few months later when you hear it again and suddenly you want to go back to it over and over again? This song is made for long car rides.

  • Going to slide along the pop rock timeline a bit to the mid-2010s now for this elegy to making music.

  • A song Hitsujibungaku’s Shiotsuka Moeka wrote for Miura Toko, now redone with Hitsujibungaku’s shoegaze fuzz.

  • Speaking of Miura Toko, here’s an anime-y ballad with scratchy, glitchy production.
• Spangle Call Lilli Line / btica
  • SCLL are now in the chill electropop lane, but sometimes they strew interesting details across the easy listening.
• CUBΣLIC / Super Full Flat
  • This reminds me of dating game openings that would get uploaded to Nico Nico Douga in 2006.
• Rabpit / Re: Saika (vo. Sera Amagi)
  • Pentatonic melodies over drum & bass. The bass drop is regrettable, but I do like the rest of the song. Another Deemo song remade for Deemo II.
